We are seeking two Domestic Assistant to to join our small friendly team to celebrate and support young people to tell the story of Woodcraft Folk during its centenary year based in Ross-on-Wye. You'll join us on a part time, permanent basis and, in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £22,208 full time equivalent which is £12.20 per hour increasing to £12.60 from 1st May 2025.

Woodcraft Folk is a registered charity, passionate about co-operation, children’s rights, youth leadership and outdoor education.
Woodcraft Folk was established in 1925, in response to the First World War, by young people seeking to build a better future based on peace, international understanding and equality.
Woodcraft Folk is open to everyone, providing play and youth work opportunities to children and young people up to 21 years. We support children to take the lead at every level of the organisation, including 50% of our Trustees being under 25 years.

The Domestic Assistant role:
Biblins Youth Campsite is looking for two part-time cleaners, who can work flexibly throughout the camping season.
If muddy boots don’t faze you, then this could be the job for you. Biblins Youth Campsite provides over 22,000 overnight stays to schools and youth organisations…a lot of muddy boots!
Working as part of a small team you would be responsible for cleaning the shower and toilet blocks, helping to get the campsite ready for visiting groups. Duties will include mopping, sweeping, emptying bins and generally helping to keep the site clean and safe ready for children and young people to engage in outdoor adventures.
As our Domestic Assistant your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking general housekeeping duties including cleaning of bathroom and shower blocks, the Burrow and other site facilities. Cleaning activities include mopping, sweeping, emptying bins, cleaning toilets, mirrors, sinks, showers, tables and other surfaces.
- Ensuring that site cleaning equipment is maintained (and all faults reported) and that the centre has at all times appropriate cleaning materials and supplies paying due regard for the Health and Safety and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations
- Undertaking where appropriate light maintenance duties of the centre and grounds
- Undertaking regular and deep cleaning of toilet and shower blocks according to agreed rotas
- Reporting any improper use or breaches of centre facilities to the Centre Manager
- Unlocking and securing buildings, as appropriate, ensuring the security of buildings at all times
- Assisting with stock control and maintenance of cleaning equipment and products and to seek to identify and report any faults promptly
- Emptying bins and ensuring suitable bins are available for use by guests
- Undertaking other general duties as may be required from time to time appropriate to the level of responsibility for the post
What we are looking for in our Domestic Assistant:
- Experience of, or understanding of cleaning and housekeeping, preferably in a similar environment (training can be provided)
- Physical strength and mobility to enable the undertaking of activity involving lifting and carrying, bending and stretching
- Access to a vehicle to enable personal transport to the site
- An ability to work safely including at times on your own and to continually review actions to ensure reduced risk to self and others
- Ability to communicate effectively to staff and visitors
- Willingness and ability to work shift patterns including some weekends and evenings
- Commitment to safeguarding children and young people
- Commitment to the aims & principles of Woodcraft Folk
